Built in 1911, a desire to blend the new buildings on East in with the existing ones was a factor in the choice of architectural style. It another building credited to the contributions of Benjamin Newton Duke, tobacco and textile entrepreneur and philanthropist, who was the primary benefactor of Trinity College after it relocated to Durham in 1892 and whose donations are incalculable.
