Built in 1927 as the main library for the Woman‘s College, Lilly Library also served as Duke‘s art museum until 1969. Named for an Indiana philanthropist in 1990 and renovated in 1993, the library now houses the university‘s fine arts book collection, a computer cluster and several reading rooms, including the James A. Thomas Memorial Room (also known as the Chinese Reading Room because of its numerous Asian art objects).
